VOS TRANSPORT REWARDED WITH LEAN & GREEN AWARD On 20th May, Vos Transport received the Lean & Green Award 2010. This award is a reward for the many objectives Vos set and already achieved during the past period of time in the field of Durable Entrepreneurship in combination with a minimum environmental load. The award was presented by Mr. Eric Janse de Jonge, Member of the Upper Chamber and Member of the Board of the company Connect, to Mr. Jules Menheere, general manager of Vos Transport. By winning this award Vos again shows that the company is a leader in the transport world. In order to reach the final goal, CO2 reduction of 20% in 2012, Vos has started up various projects, like replacement of her fleet by the newest and most economical trucks with Euro 5 motors, initiatives in the field of hydrogen powered trucks, extensive training programs for her drivers, implementation of ‘fuel track systems’, project heavy cargo combined with light cargo. Vos clearly indicates that durability is a top priority; so far this has also led to a reduction of the operational costs. The program Durable Logistics wants to make a concrete and pragmatic contribution to the durability of the logistic chain. Cost savings and CO2 reduction go hand in hand. The program supports 250 so-called ‘leaders’. It concerns companies within the logistic industry which share the program’s objective to reduce the CO2 discharge with 20% in 2012. Connekt supports and connects companies in formulating and integrating the durability objectives in the logistic management. Also check: www.duurzamelogistiek.nl
